Basura Cero CDMX: An Educational Game for Waste Separation
Basura Cero CDMX is an educational and skill-based game that teaches all residents about proper separation of urban solid waste in Mexico City. This iPhone game provides a fun way to learn about solid waste, resource consumption, recycling, and environmental care.
The objective of the game is to earn as many points as possible by correctly separating each type of waste. In the first level, players will review the distinction between organic and inorganic waste by sorting the falling waste into the appropriate bins. In the second level, players will demonstrate their ability to recognize the five waste fractions that need to be separated in Mexico City: organic waste, recyclable inorganic waste, non-recyclable inorganic waste, bulky waste, and hazardous waste.
In the third level, players will review all five fractions simultaneously, challenging even the most experienced waste separators to achieve high scores. Basura Cero CDMX was developed by the Secretaria del Medio Ambiente del Distrito Federal, specifically the Dirección de Educación Ambiental, as a playful and educational tool to support the implementation of environmental regulation NADF-024-AMBT-2013 for correct separation of urban solid waste.
